Why I Made Moji Mayhem

Every game has a story. This is ours.

It Started with a Simple Idea

I wanted to create a fun game that anyone could pick up and play. Something simple to start with, but with room to grow over time. No complicated tutorials, no steep learning curves - just swipe, match, and have fun.

By day, I work in marketing across various businesses. But I've always wanted to build something different. Something my kids would actually want to play during downtime.

"What if I made a game my kids would love?"

That question started everything.

From Webpage to App Store

The journey took a few months - from initial ideas to testing to finally submitting to the App Store. It started as a simple webpage prototype that I shared with friends to get feedback. Their reactions told me I was onto something.

From there, I decided to build it properly for iOS. The goal was always to create something polished, something that felt good to play, something worth putting out into the world.

Why Emojis?

😀 🎮 🔥 ⭐ 🏆

Everyone uses emojis every day. They're fun, expressive, and each one evokes a feeling. There's something universally joyful about them.

Plus, Apple's emoji designs are brilliant. The rendering on iOS is gorgeous - each emoji feels alive and vibrant. It was the perfect visual language for a game that's meant to make you smile.

The Hardest Part

Testing and debugging. By far.

Getting the "MOJI MAYHEM!" voice to work as an audio overlay on the title screen was surprisingly complicated. We had to rebuild that system entirely. But it was worth it.

🎤

Fun fact: That voice you hear? That's my daughter!

What's Next

Without saying too much, the vision is to build on what's already there - but in a more challenging way. I want to make people tap, yes, but also think more. The core will always be simple and accessible, but there's depth waiting to be unlocked.

Keep an eye out for "The Unknown" - it's going to be super rare and one of the hardest trophies to earn...

Thank You

To everyone who's downloaded the game, played a round, shared their score, or just given it a try - thank you. Building Moji Mayhem has been a labour of love, and knowing people are out there enjoying it makes it all worthwhile.

Now get back to merging those emojis! 🎮
